My last post was Jacob's pre-school graduation, and he just had his first day back to pre-school yesterday! Where does the time go?! He was thrilled to get back, and remembered everything and everyone. He was to enthralled with everything to even notice when I said "good bye" and left. What I like about pre-school is that he can enjoy time spent with other children his age, learn from them, how to share, and ultimately have a good time....so mommy can have some free time to get things done. Then, by the time I pick him up he is SO tired he sleeps sometimes 2-3 hours when he gets home for his nap! It's awesome :)

“That’s funny!” - Lately Jacob has been calling everything funny! It makes me smile.

“Who is it?”

“Oh no!”

“Eeew eeee, yucky”

“Bye dude.” - Off of the movie Finding Nemo when they leave the turtles.

“Wov oo.” - I love you.

“Alright then.”

“Welcome.” - That's his way of saying you're welcome after I say thank you.

“Please, data.” - He always says please and thank you after everything. It is always both together so his thank you sounds like data.

“Moo-me.” - Even when he walks by the cat he will say excuse me. He taught himself that one lol.

“Where did it go?”

“Mommy, Daddy hug and kiss.” - Every night we read to Jacob before bed. It is a good way for us to spend time together and wind down. Then we give our 'tuck-ins' with hugs and kisses. He HAS to have both. I love when he asks for hugs.

“Color Thomas, Percy Choo choo.” - I recently bought Jacob a Thomas The Train Coloring Book that he is addicted to! All he wants to do throughout the day is color with anyone who is around. Lately it has been Anne or Lucci. They are so great with him and even when Jacob could be considered a 'bother' they still spend a lot of time with him.

“Swimming boat moobe (movie)” - That is what he calls The Little Mermaid :) He loves that movie and even sings with Ariel. lol

Jacob has been talking up a storm lately and finally, now that I have a chance to write down some of what he has been saying, I can’t for the life of me remember them. I was looking at a baby development site and it said that for children his age, they should be putting one – two word sentences together. He has been doing this for ages. There are many times throughout the day that he will even surprise me with 4-6 word sentences…..but of course I can’t think of any right now lol. Hopefully, I will start writing down more of Jacob's words and development. It is amazing how easy it is to forget all the little details. Because I know there are many more I could write but I just can't remember - arg!
~

* The above picture was taken at the Wild Life Park. The bears are usually WAY back in the field, but that day I was actually able to get a picture of my youngest sister Rachael and Jacob with the bear right behind them. If you look close enough, you can see the bears brown nose and big black body.

Jacob's Pre-School Graduation

Jacob's first pre-school graduation was first thing this morning at 9:00AM. We pretty much got out of bed, ate breakfast, got cleaned up, got dressed and left. I was a little nervous about how Jacob would do since this was the first time that he would have seen us in the audience while he was on stage. There were several older children crying to be with their parents, but Jacob was a pro. I seriously think he could have done what the 5/6 year olds were doing (those who are entering kindergarten this fall. I went camera crazy as usual. Things began with Jacob leading the way for all of the children. Jacob walked by us as we were right near the center isle smiled, waved and kept walking till he had to crawl up the stage stairs. While we waited for the concert to start the children were getting arranged behind the curtain. My amazingly cute son decides to go to the center of the stage and peek his head out to the audience from between the curtians. He won the crowd from the geko. He brings a smile to my heart. Ryan and I felt so proud and were saying to ourselves "yup, that's our boy" :) They sang several songs and did the actions to them. They also read a story, recieved their folders and sang some more. Jacob was right along with everyone saying several of the song words and most of the actions. As 0the folders were handed out to each child, the parent then had to come and escort their child off of the stage and sit with them. They had freezies for everyone afterwards. I think the whole thing took about one hour. It was quick and we were home by noon. Thankfully, because Ryan's birthday party was right afterwards. But I will save those pictures and info. for a future post. I have to admit that I was feeling very choked up through most of the concert. People sitting next to me said, "I wonder who is going to fall apart first, the children or the parents." My little baby isn't much of a baby any more. It was a wonderful experience and definitely a moment to remember.

As you walked into the hall entrance, there was a wall mural for all to see straight ahead. I could hear him playing in his room. I usually keep my eye on the clock because he usually has a two hour nap. Anything longer and I am starting to worry and I peek in on him. Lately he hasn’t been asking for me to come and get him. He would just play in his room all day if I let him. I think he is enjoying his Thomas room a little too much. I went in and this is how our conversation went.

Me: “Hi there!”
Jacob: “Moning.”
Me: “Good morning to you too. Learning new words, new conversations, new tricks. More than ever I am amazed that he can tell me in his own words that he is poopie. I can usually tell, but this time it was right away as soon as I entered his room. He knows a lot of words.....but now he is having conversations with me!

Jacob *Wanted For Being Too Cute*

I saw this recently done at Connie's site from Mamma of 2 Sweet Angel Boys. He really is making me do a double take. I am in awe at how much he is learning and how much he is a little boy now and not a baby anymore. The first thing that happened was first thing this morning. I was trying to take a quick shower before Jacob woke up but he must have woken up as I was taking my shower and this is what I walked in on (above). He had two of his favorite stuffed animals lying on the floor with their heads propped up on his pillow and two blankets, one over each of them. He even propped up his cup up to one of the bears too! I thought it was way too cute. When I walked in he pointed to them and said “ni-night” over and over again. I guess he was tucking the bears in bed just the way I do for Jacob. A child’s mind never ceases to amaze me!

Secondly, was when I was in the kitchen getting supper ready and washing up some dishes, Jacob was playing in the play room beside me and I looked in and this is what I saw (below) He was playing with the lego that he got out all by himself and was neatly putting it together in one long line. I know it isn’t that huge but still, I was like “Ryan, did you help him with that?” he said no, so I was just really amazed by his fine motor skills.

Putting the lego all in a straight line.

Jacob's New Hair Cut

It was geting long again, so we decided to go the shortest his hair has ever been. It will be easy to work with during the summer months ahead. I personally don't like really really really short buzz cuts on little boys but it is still cute and easy to manage at this point. I just love longer hair on both boys and girls.

~

P.S. I just wanted to add that I am trying a new background for Jacob's site. It is a page that Jacob colored from his coloring book. Pinky Dinky Doo is one of his favorite TV shows. Jacob loves coloring with me, so you can see the areas that I colored and the areas Jacob colored. I think it looks a little fun but was wondering "is it too much" what do you think?

Veggie Tales

Ryan and I were out together earlier this week and found a great bargain at the Superstore! They had Veggie Tales movies there being sold for 2$! So we splurged and bought one lol. Jacob has never seen a Veggie Tales movie, and it has been quite a while since I have seen anything by them too. I figured he would really love it with all the bright colors and fun up-beat music. Sure enough, he LOVED it. He was dancing and singing to the music. I find it so cute watching all babies dance. Any baby likes a good beat!

I want Jacob to grow up in a godly home. I want to watch him grow in his love for God and hopefully want to be a follower of God too. I am glad for these videos because it is the one place where he can get at least some positive influence on television. For any of you who don't know what Veggie Tales is, it is basically a bible lesson acted out in a story by different vegetable characters. They are even funny for adults too! Some, I find myself laughing so hard I can't stop.

Jacob prays with us before each meal and at bed time after we finish singing Jesus Loves Me. He can't quite say Amen clearly yet, the closest he has gotten to it was "memaw" lol he gets that "M" sound anyway. He holds our hands and gets upset when we don't hold hands every time and bows his head. He stays upstairs with us when we go to church for the music, then we take him downstairs. The nursery kids usually go down right away, but he loves the songs sooo much, I just have to make that extra trip when the service starts to take him down. Then when he gets to the nursery he doesn't even look back. He's pretty trusting and ready for adventure I guess. Anyway, to all of you who have never seen any Veggie Tales movies "DO IT"! You won't be disappointed and neither will your kiddos. You'll fall in love with Bob and Larry the tomato and cucumber.

100 Things About Jacob

100 Things About Jacob

1. I will tuck him in bed, give him a kiss, say night night, then sing Jesus Loves Me. We have never missed a night doing that. It only takes a minute to sing and it really helps him to feel secure, loved and comforted, and to wind down. One of my favorite things to do when he was younger (between birth and one) was to rock together. It even relaxed me! Some days it was the only time we could just cuddle together. Cherish those times because they go way to fast!

Anyway, back to sleeping. Last night was the first night that I heard Jacob get out of bed. I put him to bed around 8:00PM and heard him playing around till about 8:30PM. I didn’t mind too much because I know even when he was in his crib he would talk and jump in it before he would fall asleep. I decided to go up at 8:30PM, put him back to bed, gave him a kiss and said night night. He wasn’t up again till morning. VERY happy.

He has been a little more active during nap time but still is pretty good. Yesterday around nap time I went in about three times and every time I heard him I put him back to bed. I didn’t mind at all. I just sat outside the door and waited. (saw it on Supernanny….actually worked!) And by the third time I put him back in bed and told him to stay in bed he didn’t get out again! This has actually been one of the easiest transitions so far. He has been doing really well. I am thankful. Lets hope it lasts :) I will keep you posted. I find as long as I am rested and getting my sleep I am more patient and less worried about things. Not enough sleep can really make for an impatient mommy which isn’t good. I don’t want to get to the point where I take my frustration out on my children because I am tired. I have seen/heard that happen to other children too many times.

The picture at the top right was taken around 10:00PM right before I went to bed. I used the night time option on my camera. His room was completely dark and as you can see the pictures that I took are brighter than even some of the ones I take during the day with regular light. My pictures as of late have been wayyy to dark. I may have to use the night time option for now on for even my day time pictures if they aren't going to be so dark. I hope so. I can't afford a new camera right now.

P.S. IMPORTANT NOTICE: I was recently reading blogger friend Amber’s blog and she mentioned reading a clip on the baby development website that Jacob is no longer a toddler :(!!!!! He is a pre-schooler. I guess that starts around 2! He is not my little baby, he isn’t even my little toddler anymore :) I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. I was just getting used to calling him a toddler. I can tell you that the toddler stage went by way too fast!

PJ's

Yesterday we got a package in the mail from Grammie G & Papa. There were chocolates, news paper clippings, notes, as well as the hand made PJ’S that she made HAND MADE sewing. I just love all the detail that went into it. There is a little embossed Scottie dog in the front, and the front of the pants has a “zipper” look to it. The blue in it is made of sweat pant material. It is just wonderful! It is nice and warm for winter as well. She sure has a gift. Even the quality is better than anything you can get in the stores. Plus it is extra special because it was made by Grammie G. Thank you for the beautiful package Mom & Dad! We were both very teared up when we opened it. The other 2 items that she put in the package were 2 home made “magic bags” …you know the ones that you heat up in the microwave? We LOVE our heating bags :) I will probably use one tonight while relaxing with Ryan. I know the pictures turned out quite dark, my camera has been taking pictures like that lately.....I really hope I don't have to invest in a new one. I can't live without it, but these dark pictures are really not good enough.

Jacob Loves Lego

Jacob Playing Lego *click image for larger view*

~

Jacob is sitting on his wooden train set table. I will build it and within minutes he tears it apart, puts the pieces on the floor to leave room for his stuffed animals. He makes room for himself and starts playing with Lego. I think he is having more fun sitting on the train table playing toys than having it set up all the time. I still haven't taken a picture yet of the train set all set up. I will have to do it some evening he is asleep. The first time my pictures didn't turn out and now I don't have any record of it :(. It was run through the Tim Hortons hockey and people from all over came to play and participate. Jacob was still a little too young to play but he came with his cousins Emma, Adam and Micalea who were playing. The time between games got quite long so what they did was rented several

Inflatable play rooms. There were some with race cars and punching bags in them and others with a ton of stuff to climb but there was one that Jacob could get on and that was the pirate ship. There were little steps to help get to the top and a huge slide to get down. He had so much fun. Of course, since it was run through Tim Hortons there was all you can eat timbits and coffee. The younges cousin Adam asked me "did you come to see me, or were you just here for the food?" lol It was so cute. Funny how children's minds work. As I said in an earlier post I don't like sweets, and I really don't drink coffee so I could honestly answer in response "I came to see you...I haven't had 1 timbit!"

Jacob sitting in the bleachers.

Watching Emma, Micalea, and Adam play. He never let go of his satin edged blanket. He never sucked his thumb and he never liked a soother and gave up his bottle pretty easy and he isn't even 2 yet, but the one thing that I don't think he will give up any time soon is his satin edged blanket. He finds them so cozy and soft. I was the same way when I was little. I would rub the satiny part against my face. It was so soothing. He learned that all on his own though :)

Jacob looking pretty serious :)
 Jacob and Micalea

Micalea, Jacob and Adam

Crazy Days....

*click image for larger view* Jacob & Daddy

Oh my, what a day it has been. Jacob is down for his nap today….thankfully. The last two days he hasn’t had a nap. He isn’t even two yet! I know children well into the age 4-6 that still have naps. What age did your children stop having naps? I still think I will put him down for a bit even if he just has some alone time talking with himself. I am scared because I don't want his napping days to be over :(

Second thing: Ryan called from work, he had left a form at home that he needed during the day and wanted me to read it off to him. I was on the phone maybe 2-3 minutes tops and when I came into the living room Jacob had gotten a chair, pushed it over to his change area and rubbed vaseline ALL over his hair, clothes, couch, carpet EVERYTHING. So normally he would have a bath right before bed, but today first thing this morning he went into the tub. Even after washing his hair 5X with baby shampoo and dish soap his hair is still sticking together. Any advice???? This is the first time he has taken the chair and pushed it over to where he wants to reach something. What a smarty pants....and a new can of worms being opened.

The last thing I wanted to say is that after his swim on Tuesday he put his feet down in the shallow end!!! Before he wouldn't stop wraping his legs around me and now he doesn't mind his feet touching! This is a huge accomplishment for him. It was really bad there for a while and I am pleased to announce that he is over that. He is almost getting too care free, several times he was inching too close to the water that was over his head. Eyes are on him 100%.

Birthday Party

Getting ready to eat his hot dog.

Jacob loved watching all of the other boys hitting the piñata. He especially loved playing with the geo train set. (That is the one I am hoping to get him for his 2nd birthday). Jacob has gone to families homes for birthdays but this was the first one we went to that wasn't family. The person who gave us our orange and white cat to be exact. I only met them a couple of times and her son and Jacob loved playing together. It started at 9:30AM which worked out great because Jacob still gets a noon nap. Overall it was a great time. I am glad that Jacob can play with other children. It is a great way to develop good social skills, plus they can learn from each other and learn to share. I have to admit that I was shocked when Jacob grabbed the toys out of someones hands. I guess all children have to learn how to share.

Mr. Potato Head

Ryan and I went grocery shopping yesterday and came across a Mr. Potato Head! It was regularly $12.00 and we were able to get it for half that on sale. I was very pleased. I was thinking we should wait and give it away for a birthday gift or a gift for some occasion but this, it was a random splurge I guess. We thought it would be a great idea considering Jacob knows most of his body parts already. I will usually draw a face on a piece of paper and he will point to the eyes and say eye, then to the nose and say no (his way of saying nose) then to the mouth, and he says mou. and so on. The packaging said from ages 2 and up but Jacob is always learning and will be two in 3 months so why not. He loves pointing to all the parts and saying what they are. I find it amazing watching him learn. He still blows me away sometimes.

Relaxing With Dad

*click image for larger view* Jacob sitting in the other computer chair.

*click image for larger view* Relaxing with Daddy. I thought since I have met so many great people on the blog I would share some of his earlier days since I figured many of you haven't seen these pictures. Especially when I didn't start blogging till Jacob was several months old. This is also his first post, so why not go back in time and share a couple of firsts. I will resume with my current posts soon!

*click image for larger view* Jacob's first laundry basket ride.
