Jacob With A Bear

Wow, I can't get over how long it has been since I posted on Jacob's Blog. My last post was Jacob's pre-school graduation, and he just had his first day back to pre-school yesterday! Where does the time go?! He was thrilled to get back, and remembered everything and everyone. He was to enthralled with everything to even notice when I said "good bye" and left. What I like about pre-school is that he can enjoy time spent with other children his age, learn from them, how to share, and ultimately have a good time....so mommy can have some free time to get things done. Then, by the time I pick him up he is SO tired he sleeps sometimes 2-3 hours when he gets home for his nap! It's awesome :)

“That’s funny!” - Lately Jacob has been calling everything funny! It makes me smile.

“Who is it?”

“Oh no!”

“Eeew eeee, yucky”

“Bye dude.” - Off of the movie Finding Nemo when they leave the turtles.

“Wov oo.” - I love you.

“Alright then.”

“Welcome.” - That's his way of saying you're welcome after I say thank you.

“Please, data.” - He always says please and thank you after everything. It is always both together so his thank you sounds like data.

“Moo-me.” - Even when he walks by the cat he will say excuse me. He taught himself that one lol.

“Where did it go?”

“Mommy, Daddy hug and kiss.” - Every night we read to Jacob before bed. It is a good way for us to spend time together and wind down. Then we give our 'tuck-ins' with hugs and kisses. He HAS to have both. I love when he asks for hugs.

“Color Thomas, Percy Choo choo.” - I recently bought Jacob a Thomas The Train Coloring Book that he is addicted to! All he wants to do throughout the day is color with anyone who is around. Lately it has been Anne or Lucci. They are so great with him and even when Jacob could be considered a 'bother' they still spend a lot of time with him.

“Swimming boat moobe (movie) - That is what he calls The Little Mermaid :) He loves that movie and even sings with Ariel. lol

Jacob has been talking up a storm lately and finally, now that I have a chance to write down some of what he has been saying, I can’t for the life of me remember them. I was looking at a baby development site and it said that for children his age, they should be putting one – two word sentences together. He has been doing this for ages. There are many times throughout the day that he will even surprise me with 4-6 word sentences…..but of course I can’t think of any right now lol. Hopefully, I will start writing down more of Jacob's words and development. It is amazing how easy it is to forget all the little details. Because I know there are many more I could write but I just can't remember - arg!

* The above picture was taken at the Wild Life Park. The bears are usually WAY back in the field, but that day I was actually able to get a picture of my youngest sister Rachael and Jacob with the bear right behind them. If you look close enough, you can see the bears brown nose and big black body.

Jacob's Pre-School Graduation

Jacob's first pre-school graduation was first thing this morning at 9:00AM. We pretty much got out of bed, ate breakfast, got cleaned up, got dressed and left. I was a little nervous about how Jacob would do since this was the first time that he would have seen us in the audience while he was on stage. There were several older children crying to be with their parents, but Jacob was a pro. I seriously think he could have done what the 5/6 year olds were doing (those who are entering kindergarten this fall. I went camera crazy as usual. Things began with Jacob leading the way for all of the children. Jacob walked by us as we were right near the center isle smiled, waved and kept walking till he had to crawl up the stage stairs. While we waited for the concert to start the children were getting arranged behind the curtain. My amazingly cute son decides to go to the center of the stage and peek his head out to the audience from between the curtians. He won the crowd from the geko. He brings a smile to my heart. Ryan and I felt so proud and were saying to ourselves "yup, that's our boy" :) They sang several songs and did the actions to them. They also read a story, recieved their folders and sang some more. Jacob was right along with everyone saying several of the song words and most of the actions. As 0the folders were handed out to each child, the parent then had to come and escort their child off of the stage and sit with them. They had freezies for everyone afterwards. I think the whole thing took about one hour. It was quick and we were home by noon. Thankfully, because Ryan's birthday party was right afterwards. But I will save those pictures and info. for a future post. I have to admit that I was feeling very choked up through most of the concert. People sitting next to me said, "I wonder who is going to fall apart first, the children or the parents." My little baby isn't much of a baby any more. It was a wonderful experience and definitely a moment to remember.

As you walked into the hall entrance, there was a wall mural for all to see straight ahead. On it was a fish with a photo of each pre-school student.

Swim Cap

My sister Caitlin was getting ready for swimming, and Jacob saw her try on her swim cap. He REALLY wanted to try it on. Cait put it on him and he didn't want to take it off. To everyone's surprise, he wore it for the rest of the evening. I never used to like swim caps for the fact that they pulled my hair and I could never get them on quite right. But Jacob loved it. He looks silly in the picture. *He's a cool dude lol.*

Conversations

Yesterday I got Jacob up from his noon nap. I could hear him playing in his room. I usually keep my eye on the clock because he usually has a two hour nap. Anything longer and I am starting to worry and I peek in on him. Lately he hasn’t been asking for me to come and get him. He would just play in his room all day if I let him. I think he is enjoying his Thomas room a little too much. I went in and this is how our conversation went.

Me: “Hi there!”

Jacob: “Moning.”
Me: “Good morning to you too. Did you have a good sleep?”
Jacob: (nods his head) and says: “I’m poopie.”
Me: “Did you poop in your diaper?”
Jacob: " Yes." Then he lays on his back to get changed

I am just amazed at his constant increase in learning. Learning new words, new conversations, new tricks. More than ever I am amazed that he can tell me in his own words that he is poopie. I can usually tell, but this time it was right away as soon as I entered his room. He knows a lot of words.....but now he is having conversations with me!

Constantly Doing Double Takes

The last couple of days Jacob has been doing many things that is just making my jaw drop. He really is making me do a double take. I am in awe at how much he is learning and how much he is a little boy now and not a baby anymore. The first thing that happened was first thing this morning. I was trying to take a quick shower before Jacob woke up but he must have woken up as I was taking my shower and this is what I walked in on (above). He had two of his favorite stuffed animals lying on the floor with their heads propped up on his pillow and two blankets, one over each of them. He even propped up his cup up to one of the bears too! I thought it was way too cute. When I walked in he pointed to them and said “ni-night” over and over again. I guess he was tucking the bears in bed just the way I do for Jacob. A child’s mind never ceases to amaze me!

Secondly, was when I was in the kitchen getting supper ready and washing up some dishes, Jacob was playing in the play room beside me and I looked in and this is what I saw (below) He was playing with the lego that he got out all by himself and was neatly putting it together in one long line. I know it isn’t that huge but still, I was like “Ryan, did you help him with that?” he said no, so I was just really amazed by his fine motor skills.

Putting the lego all in a straight line.

Jacob's New Hair Cut

Eating his goldfish and looking a little dazed.

Last week Jacob got a hair cut from Aunt Cathy. It was geting long again, so we decided to go the shortest his hair has ever been. It will be easy to work with during the summer months ahead. I personally don't like really really really short buzz cuts on little boys but it is still cute and easy to manage at this point. I just love longer hair on both boys and girls.

P.S. I just wanted to add that I am trying a new background for Jacob's site. It is a page that Jacob colored from his coloring book. Pinky Dinky Doo is one of his favorite TV shows. Jacob loves coloring with me, so you can see the areas that I colored and the areas Jacob colored. I think it looks a little fun but was wondering "is it too much" what do you think?
